The rain continued to flow on day 4 of competition at the 2016 Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships but so did the medals. On a day where we were outnumbered on the slopes, Team SMGS put in a huge effort in the rain to bag another 11 medals, including 6 1st place, and maintain our position atop of the medal tally with only one day of competition remaining.

The Medals Continue

Despite the conditions, we continued to bring home the medals. Cassie Nicholls continued her impressive form with another individual gold in the Alpine today but the Div 5 girls team was just knocked off the top step today by just over a second. Across at the SkierX, Finn Sadler completed his clean sweep of podiums, with another 1st place medal in the Div 3 race today.

Across at the SkierX, Finn Sadler completed his clean sweep of podiums, with another 1st place medal in the Div 3 race today. He wasn’t alone as we bagged another 4 medals on the SkierX course.

Up at Blue Cow, the Div 2 team continued the great form with another 4 medals, including a 1st place for our Div 2 girls team.

The Amazing (And Wet) Parents

Events like this as well as the many others throughout the season wouldn’t be possible without the amazing support of the parents. Getting the kids up and down the mountain, day after day, is no easy task and conditions like we faced today really highlight the passion and dedication of our amazing parents.

Today, we also had support from across the globe as Madi Rager’s mother arrived from the United States to cheer on Madi and Team SMGS!

Head of Snowsports, Mr Tim Bland, was amazed at the support of our amazing parents and supports:

“Our students are very lucky to have parents who are so supportive of their children as well as the school. The SMGS snowsports program enjoys the encouragement of the parent community and without it, it would not be the wonderful experience and success it is today. I want to extend a thank you to all those who have supported myself and the school throughout this long season.”

All of us at Snowy Mountains Grammar School would like to thank everyone who has helped make this such a wonderful experience, even in conditions like today. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to achieve the success that we have.
