On Tuesday 6 December, the entire SMGS student body headed up to Thredbo Resort for the 20th annual “Thredbo Run”.
The Thredbo run is one of our cultural events for the end of the year, it’s a cross country running event which started when the school first opened in 1996. The distances range from 8km for our Year 7 to Year 12 and there is a shorter course for our Year 3 to Year 6 students and then a shorter course still for our Kindergarten to Year 2 to have a go as well.
It is a great day out for the entire student body with students spending some time with their friends in the beautiful Snowy Mountains and for some, a chance to best their time from years past.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in this years event, it was pleasing to see so many smiling faces and some great efforts out on course. This year, Kiandra House took home top honors, with Mackenzie Harding and Bentley Walker-Broose crossing the finish line first in the female and male categories.
We would like to thank our Year 12 students for providing a fundraiser BBQ for everyone at the end of the race which is held in in the heart of the Thredbo Village and to the staff and parents who came up to help with the event marshalling, timing, set up and clean up.
In addition, a special thank you Thredbo Resort for hosting SMGS for the day and to Mr Bland for coordinating yet another amazing event.
