Jindabyne, NSW (8 December 2017) – Snowy Mountains Grammar School announces launch of SMGS Alumni, its Alumni Engagement and Relations Program.
Over the past twenty-one years, SMGS has worked diligently to bring our school’s founders’ vision to reality – SMGS to be recognised as a premier day and boarding school community, offering a diverse range of opportunities, leading to the development of outstanding citizens equipped for an ever-changing world.
Nestled in the foothills of Australia’s stunning alpine region and located on the shores of the beautiful Lake Jindabyne, graduates of SMGS leave our school armed with the tools to take on any aspiration and trial that life beyond our school grounds presents. We are proud of the citizens that graduates of SMGS have become, as they confidently challenge, belong and explore the world.
Today, we are proud to announce the launch of our Alumni Engagement and Relations Program, SMGS Alumni. SMGS Alumni will further strengthen our school’s ethos of belonging (one of SMGS’ foundation stones). The program will meaningfully and purposefully connect graduates of our school with current and past teachers, staff, students’ families and friends.
Over the next twenty-four months, SMGS Alumni will set in motion a platform to highlight alumni accomplishments and stories, provide a mechanism for past students to reconnect and network via an online community and annual reunions, provide avenues for philanthropy through project support, and provide opportunities to volunteer and mentor current students.
In early 2018, an internal committee will be created, with the hopes of an official alumni-driven association created and functioning by 2020.
Acting Principal, Mrs Kelli Wilson, is excited about the creation of the SMGS Alumni Engagement and Relations Program and the potential future opportunities it presents. She said, “The purpose of the alumni association is to encourage our graduates to stay connected with their school. These connections provide a valuable way for students to give back to their community and help the next generation of SMGS students. Mentoring, role models and guest speakers are exciting ways to see our graduates being involved in the development of the school on an ongoing basis. We are incredibly proud of all our students’ achievements after leaving us and we believe that creating the SMGS alumni association is one way we can continue to strengthen our learning community.”
We would like to encourage all SMGS alumni, parents, friends, current and past staff to spread the word about the launch of the SMGS Alumni Engagement and Relations Program. The best way to do this is by sharing the link to this article or by sharing www.smgs.nsw.edu.au/alumni .
