Jindabyne, NSW. (20 April 2018) – Snowy Mountains Grammar School’s equestrian event, SMIEC, to be held from Saturday 28th April – Tuesday 1st May, announces record number of riders and schools from across the ACT, NSW and VIC travelling to Jindabyne to participate in the 4-day event.

The 21st anniversary of SMGS’ Snowy Mountains Interschools Equestrian Competition (SMIEC) is fast approaching. Over 250 riders from over 75 schools are currently registered, with a number of schools attending for the first time. This is the largest number of competitors the event has welcomed over the four-day event, held at the Station Resort, Jindabyne.

The Snowy Monaro region will be well represented, with a number of local schools sending large teams this year, with riders from Kindergarten through to Year 12. Most events are filled to capacity and we are expecting to have four action-packed days, with riders demonstrating their skills over jumps, behind cattle, around sporting courses, in the dressage arena and in the stockman’s challenge. We are also looking forward to the 6-bar showjumping on Sunday afternoon and the fancy dress on Monday afternoon – two very popular and feature events of our show.

We are very excited to announce the official photographer for this year’s event is local photographer, 5 Willows. Photos from the event can be viewed and purchased through the website https://www.5willows.com.au/smiec-2018/.

Also, new this year, live results will be available through the event website at www.smiec.com.au/results.

The SMGS P&F canteen will be in full swing on all four days, providing a BBQ, coffee and baked goods for competitors and spectators alike. The P&F team will also be running the SMIEC merchandise tent and there will be a number of trade stands. The SMIEC merchandise can be viewed in the coming days at www.smiec.com.au/merchandise.

We are looking forward to another fabulous SMIEC event!
