Year 10 have spent the first week of Term 4 gaining valuable insight into the professional world during Work Experience Week. Snowy Mountains Grammar School students completed their Work Experience with businesses located in Jindabyne, Cooma, and Canberra. Some students even travelled as far as Sydney to take advantage of opportunities. Each chose an industry in which they are interested in perusing a career after school and spent five days working within it, for a business of their choice.
Hugo spent his Work Experience at Oscar’s TechHUBin Cooma. Oscar’s TechHUB is a locally-owned business that provides IT solutions to customers within the Snowy Mountains region. Felix spent the week at RE-WOOD Jindabyne, honing his carpentry skills. RE-WOODcreate high-quality recycled timber furniture and cabinetry.
High School Work Experience programs offer students the opportunity to apply classroom learning to real problems, and expand their skillset and professional networks alike. Unlike after-school or weekend jobs, Work Experience allows students to experience their “dream career” first hand, meet senior employees, and acquire mentorship.
Work Experience is an extremely valuable opportunity for SMGS students. Year 10 would like to thank all of the business, both near and far, that hosted them.
