This year Twynam’s house charity once again focused on trying to improve our unique natural environment. As part of Clean Up Australia Day, Twynam organised and ran a school event by the lakeside over the weekend.

The organisation Clean Up Australia “inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment”.  For us, this day is aimed at driving environmental issues and behaviour that will cause change and action. It is important for students to participate in these service learning opportunities, as it gives them a chance to ‘give back’ to their local community while also working as a team to achieve a goal.

This year we had 35 people assist and support the program, including many of our boarding house students, who also came down to lend a hand. It was a hugely successful day, not just in terms of cleaning up the environment, but seeing our students work together and enjoy our local surroundings in a positive way.
