Snowy Mountains Grammar School, in association with Jindabyne Girl Riders, are very excited to announce our first ever Girls’ Mountain Bike Retreat. Mountain biking in the Snowy Mountains is a growing sport, and at SMGS we want to provide students with opportunities to build their riding confidence and ability in a safe, supportive and positive environment.

The Girls’ Mountain Bike Retreat idea was presented to Emma Smith, Dean of Students for Years 7-8, by seasoned SMGS riders Ruby Smith and Eve Donnelly to help encourage and increase participation rates of female students out on the mountain bike trails.

All SMGS female students in Years 7 to 12 and female staff are invited to attend our Girls’ Mountain Bike Retreat on Saturday, 25 May, 2019. This day will include:

MORNING SESSION at Bungarra Alpine Centre, commencing at 9am:

  • 3 hours of mountain bike lessons facilitated by Jindabyne Girl Riders for all ability levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced).

LUNCH (the students and their bikes will be transported back to SMGS after the mountain bike session for the BBQ and afternoon session):

  • BBQ lunch (SMGS campus).

AFTERNOON SESSION:

  • Bike maintenance session to learn how to care for the equipment used in this sport
  • Yoga session
  • Video analysis from the morning riding session so students can identify areas to work on.

The day will finish at 4pm for pick-up from SMGS.

The total cost for the whole day, inclusive of everything, is $50, which will be charged to your school account.

We are very excited about this venture and if you need any more information please contact Emma Smith (organiser) at emma.smith@smgs.nsw.edu.au.

An additional note will be sent home via CareMonkey for students to sign up to this great day!
