I was delighted that the Deputy Premier of New South Wales, Member for Monaro, Minister for Regional NSW, Industry and Trade, and Leader of the Nationals, the Hon. John Barilaro MP, accepted an invitation to visit our school this week. Eve Donnelly, one of our School Captains, hosted the Deputy Premier, along with myself as Principal. He was most generous with his time, greeting several students and staff, and listened to our story as a school community, which continues to grow and expand to the point of needing new facilities in the near future. We toured our school site and discussed some future planning concepts, including the SMGS Master Plan which is presently in the early stages of being developed by a professional architecture firm in Canberra. Overall, we appreciated the visit and felt that the Deputy Premier has a solid grasp of Snowy Mountains Grammar School as an important learning community in Jindabyne, offering families choice and a high-quality education.
