A small, but mighty contingent of SMGS students started their snowsports competition today on the slopes of Perisher Resort for the 2019 Scots Race.
While mother nature delivered the goods to revive a thinning snowpack, an extra layer and a balaclava were a necessity today to ward off the high winds and blowing snow.
There is no shortage of opportunity for students to find their skiing and boarding legs over the short Australian Winter and the Scots Race is always a great race to add to the early season calendar.
Of the students who powered through the start wand today, SMGS Director of Activities, Mr Martin Philpott said, “It was pleasing to see some of our youngest racers brave the elements and get in a great early season race. It will be exciting to see how these students progress through the rest of the season after some more days on snow through the SMGS Wednesday Snowsports program, their involvement with the various snowsports programs on offer from both resorts and of course the numerous opportunities at the upcoming interschools events”.
