I am delighted that, for the fourth consecutive year, Snowy Mountains Grammar School has been recognised as a leading Australian school by those in the profession, at the annual Australian Education Awards.

In addition to winning multipleInnovative School awards and Australian Boarding School of the Year in 2018, we have also been recognised as a National Finalist two years running, forBest Co-Curricular Program and, most recently, Regional School of the Year.

Whilst I have always viewed any award for an individual or team as ‘a pat on the back’ more than anything else, at the same time I want to recognise the extent of the hard work and dedication that has been invested by many of our staff members over recent years. This collegial contribution and focus has been significant in transforming everything we do and taking it to another level, so that our students are the true recipients of our accomplishments.

There is a very positive vibe throughout the school and this is represented not only through our dedicated staff but also evidenced by unprecedented growth in our enrolments. We are again full in boarding, as we were last year, and will be again in 2020. Our Year 7 cohort for next year will easily be our biggest, with two classes already enrolled, and that theme is continuing with most of our year levels in the Senior School. Our Junior School is also experiencing growth, resulting in our having to split classes this year. We certainly appreciate the support from our students and parents because it really is a partnership.

It is an exciting time to be in Jindabyne as a town, as well as at Snowy Mountains Grammar School. Our school is in the middle of creating a new Master Plan to cater to current and future growth and development to meet the needs of our community. A new Strategic Plan is under development and guiding our future strategy as education and our society continues to evolve. Our school leaders have taken an active role in shaping our approach and are committed to ensuring Snowy Mountains Grammar School continues to be a school which values people, provides amazing and unique opportunities to learn, both in and out of the classroom, and develops well-rounded young people who interact in our local and wider community as tremendous ambassadors and young leaders.

The Australian Education Awards are an opportunity to acknowledge all the hard work and achievements by many educators around the country and I am delighted that Snowy Mountains Grammar School is able to represent our local community with great pride.
