Up, up and away, it’s the 100th day!
On Monday, 26 July, our youngest learners reached a significant milestone in their educational journey – their first 100 days of school!
Students participated in the following activities to celebrate the day: creating “100th-day crowns” to start the day, completing a “100 days’ writing” activity and timing themselves with stopwatches to see how many ‘certain things’ they could do in 100 seconds.
Of this significant milestone, SMGS Kindergarten teacher, Rosheen Nikora, said, “… Every day you enter the classroom, I ask you to strive higher than the day before and every day you do. You should be very proud of your achievements, learning and personal growth. Your willingness to learn and your kindness are an asset to our school community.”

Principal Dr Andrew Bell said, “Congratulations to our Kindergarten student community who have already begun to establish important lifelong learning habits that will serve them well on their journey throughout their early years as well as their entire schooling and beyond. The class is progressing very well, and they are working beautifully with Mrs Nikora, who provides them with exceptional learning experiences and a superb level of care and support. Well done on an excellent first 100 days, Kindergarten!”
Kindergarten is one of the most critical years of schooling. It is the year that students decide how they see themselves as learners. Further development in their language, self-regulation and socialisation occurs in this critical year. To enable the optimum opportunity to support this development, the school and classroom environments are vital elements. The classroom needs to offer the right amount of nurture, encouragement and teacher expectation to promote student learning success and blossoming independence.
SMGS looks forward to sharing our experience in this field during our Kindergarten 2022 Information Session on Thursday, 7 October, at 6:00pm.
