On Tuesday, 8 March, communities across the world will gather to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
In its fourth year, the 2022 Snowy Mountains Grammar School International Women’s Day event will align with the 2022 International Women’s Day global campaign theme, #breakthebias.
Imagine a gender-equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality.
Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.
Celebrate women’s achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality.
We are excited to announce that The Hon. (Bronnie) Bronwyn TAYLOR, MLC Minister for Women, Minister for Regional Health, and Minister for Mental Health, is our keynote speaker this year.
For twenty years prior to her election, Bronnie was a registered nurse, specialising in cancer care and palliative care. Her work in these fields saw her become one of the first McGrath Foundation Breast Care nurses, and then going on to become the Director of Cancer Services in the Southern NSW Local Health District.
Of Bronnie’s political journey, the NSW Nationals website reads, Bronnie “is one of an ‘accidental activist’, becoming involved in politics only due to her frustrations with the ‘system’ and its implications for regional patients. Bronnie served as the Deputy Mayor of the Cooma-Monaro Shire and became involved in the National Party, before being elected to the Legislative Council in 2015.”
She is passionately committed to our rural and regional communities and, in particular, health and education outcomes, local government and agriculture.
This year’s event is open to all SMGS Year 7-12 students and will be held at Crackenback Farm.
