From Interschools to NorAms to Junior Worlds! Year 11 student Lottie Lodge has been carving her way through the competition since joining the Australian Mogul team in May 2022. Her hard work and dedication have paid off, as she’s been selected to represent Australia at the FIS Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco.

Lottie’s selection for the Junior World Championships is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. Her story is a testament to the fact that the path to success requires hard work, perseverance, and an unrelenting passion for one’s craft.

We had the opportunity to speak with Lottie about her expectations for the World Juniors, her goals for the competition, and her advice for younger students and athletes pursuing their dreams. Here’s what she had to say:

Q: What are you looking forward to the most about heading to World Juniors?

A: I am really looking forward to representing Australia at the Junior World Championships. There are three different events – singles, duals, and team duals – which will be super fun. Also, the event will be held in Italy, so I’m looking forward to seeing some parts of Europe I haven’t seen before.

Q: Do you have any specific goals for the competition?

A: My goal is to put down my best runs in the competition. If I do that, I’ll be thrilled.

Q: Do you have any words of advice for the younger students/athletes about pursuing their dreams?

A: It’s a long journey with a lot of training, so it’s important that you train as hard as you can and enjoy it. If you have a setback due to an injury or a bad result in competition, use it as motivation to train harder. Competition days can be stressful, so try to relax, enjoy the competition atmosphere, and meet the other competing athletes.

Q: What do you love most about competing in moguls?

A: I love it when I have put down my competition run, knowing that it was the best run I could have done.

The SMGS community is immensely proud of Lottie’s selection for the Junior World Championships, and we extend our warmest congratulations and heartfelt best wishes for success. The entire school community is behind her, and we look forward to following her journey in Chiesa.
