“The engagement and enthusiasm exhibited by our school community during the Book Week Parade is a testament to the profound impact of fostering a love for reading in young hearts.” – Head of Junior School.

Something is enchanting about watching a parade of young minds adorned as their favourite literary characters. Our school’s recent Junior School Book Week Parade was a true spectacle of creativity and wonder, underscoring the importance of celebrating reading.

The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) theme for this year, “Read Grow Inspire,” echoed powerfully throughout the parade. As each student stepped onto the parade route, their costumes embodied the essence of this theme, reflecting the growth that happens when we immerse ourselves in the pages of a book.

The Head of Junior School beautifully captured the event with her words, highlighting the engagement and enthusiasm reverberating throughout our school community. As each student stepped onto the runway, their costumes ignited their joy and the magic of the stories they represented.

The teachers, no strangers to sparking imagination in the classroom, showcased their creative flair through their costumes. Witnessing their enthusiasm for the event was heartwarming, reinforcing the message that reading transcends age and unites us all.

From wizards to superheroes, princesses to pirates, the diversity of costumes mirrored the variety of stories that captivate young hearts. The air was electric with giggles, wide-eyed wonder, and the joy of shared imagination.

However, what truly set the event apart was the school community aspect. Parents, carers, teachers, and students came together to celebrate the joy of reading. The parade wasn’t just about showcasing costumes; it was a collective celebration of the written word.

In a world increasingly dominated by screens and technology, events like the Book Week Parade serve as a poignant reminder of the timeless power of books. They remind us that turning pages can transport us to worlds beyond our own, fostering empathy, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning.
