Find Your Horizon with Duke of Ed at SMGS!

Snowy Mountains Grammar School is proud to offer the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to students. The Award is a leading structured (non-formal education) youth development program, empowering young Australians to explore their full potential regardless of their location or circumstance. The Award is a fully inclusive program and has no social, political, or religious affiliations.

About the Award

While participating in the Award program students must learn a skill, take part in a physical recreation activity, volunteer in their community and experience a team adventure in a new environment. SMGS students may enter the program when they turn 14.

Award Levels

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program consists of three levels – Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Completing the program requires commitment. The Bronze and Silver Awards take a minimum of 6 months to complete, and the Gold Award takes 12 months. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award recognises individual goal setting and self-improvement through persistence and achievement.

SMGS Support

Throughout their time in the Award program, participants are supported by a network of adults. SMGS staff are available to assist and assess students as they progress through the program. Please note that the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award may not be completed during school hours, however.
