At Snowy Mountains Grammar School, we offer a diverse range of opportunities for our students, leading to the development of outstanding citizens equipped for an ever-changing world. Our students will inherit the responsibility to lead our future society. That is why our mission is to equip our future leaders to be well-rounded with active and creative minds, who have an understanding of, and compassion for others, a passion for life-long learning, and the courage and confidence to act on their beliefs in an ever-changing world.

The spirit of giving back is something we instill in our students through our Service Learning program, which involves volunteering time and skills, as well as raising funds for groups in need. Such initiatives occur throughout the year and by many individuals. We invite our staff, parents, and community members to be part of something special at Snowy Mountains Grammar School as we make a difference together.

To continue to provide diverse and engaging programs, we need some assistance to continue to give individuals opportunities and develop our campus. We believe that investing in a high-quality, inspiring learning community with strong values and diverse opportunities will yield significant returns. The cost of not providing this opportunity could be far more significant.

Volunteering at SMGS

Members of our community give their time in coaching sports, assisting with reading programs, supervising or presenting in learning in action activities or in the Arts, by providing specialist curriculum advice to our students, offering career advice or similar offerings of time or skills and expertise. Our Parents and Friends Committee are also volunteers leading fundraising activities for student resources.

“ Philanthropic Giving – Giving back through financial means for those willing and in a position to do so makes a very significant difference to a large group of students now and well into the future. This occurs by providing much needed funds to capital projects enabling facilities and resources to teach and learning in all areas.“ 

Building Fund (Tax Deductable)

 

We are presently building the most substantive learning facility in the School’s history and likely to remain as such for decades to come (Stage 1 – New Learning Hub). Our school community has been most patient waiting 28 years to have this facility which is due to open for Term 1, 2024. With a government contribution of $4.5m and the majority from bank borrowings, we cannot afford to rest with this project as more learning facilities are already in need to deliver our educational programs.

At the same time, we are building Stage 2 – The Sports Precinct and this has more works yet to occur to be complete for the health and wellbeing of our students.

Facilities on our masterplan yet to occur include a Performing Arts complex and multi-purpose theatre, more general learning classrooms, an aviation centre, food and hospitality learning space, digital multi-media space, library extension, gym/fitness facility, oval extension, indoor sports complex, teacher work rooms, meeting rooms, boarding extension and common space, office space and outdoor learning, recreational spaces, and car parking.

An education for life is a powerful gift, and every child deserves the opportunity to realise their full potential. As well as offering financial assistance, scholarships:

  • Encourage diversity and opportunity to those who otherwise could not afford to attend and learn at SMGS
  • Academic excellence to strive to reach their potential and remain learning within our local community
  • Offer opportunities in various co-curricular programs to achieve excellence in their chosen field, some going to be Olympians and professional athletes, musicians or just more accomplished, well-rounded and passionate individuals.
