Jindabyne, NSW, – Presented by Snowy Mountains Grammar School Drama students, the physical theatre production of Letters Home is touring the Snowy Monaro Region and south-east NSW.

About the production:

Letters Home – 2022 Tour

How has our attitude towards war changed over the last hundred years or so?

Exploring a century and a half of war poetry through sights, sounds and physical theatre.

Following the successful tour of Snowy Mountains Grammar School’s physical theatre production, War Poetry, in 2017, SMGS students have now devised a second act to create a revised production – Letters Home. Incorporating physical theatre and live musicians with original compositions and contemporary poetry, including Ziggy Ramo and Paul Kelly’s Little ThingsLetters Home is based on a collection of war poetry from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Some of the more traditional war poets include Victor Hugo, Alfred Tennyson, Wilfred Owen, Rudyard Kipling and Siegfried Sassoon.

Physical Theatre is a genre of theatrical performance that relies mainly on the physical motion of the performers to convey the story. Minimalist staging, lighting and sound effects means this production can be performed in any school hall or performance space. This also means NO rehearsal time is needed for the students before each performance.

All proceeds raised will go to Legacy Australia and ATSIVSA (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Veterans and Services Association).
