School Cleaner (Part-Time)

Snowy Mountains Grammar School is seeking an energetic and detail oriented cleaner to join our team on a part-time basis in May 2019. 

Nestled in the foothills of Australia’s pristine alpine mountain region and located on the shore of the beautiful Lake Jindabyne, only a short drive from the Alpine resorts of Thredbo and Perisher, Snowy Mountains Grammar School is truly unique.

The School Cleaner is an important member of the school presentation team and works closely with staff to maintain a clean and inviting environment for our students.

Award: Independent Schools NSW (Support and Operational Staff) Multi-Enterprise Agreement (MEA) 2017
Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications and in accordance with the Independent Schools NSW (Support and Operational Staff) Multi-Enterprise Agreement (MEA) 2017
Term: Part-Time Position available (up to 18 hours per week by negotiation) commencing Friday, 17th May 2019 or by negotiation

Overview

This Day School Cleaner reports directly to the Director Corporate Services and is primarily focused on supporting students to improve their academic, social and emotional well-being through the provision of clean and tidy facilities that are correctly resourced, presenting the school in a positive light.

The Day School Cleaner is required to work both independently and in conjunction with other members of the Corporate Services and Academic teams including the Boarding House cleaner.

The Day School Cleaner should abide by the values of the School – Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Empathy.

 

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Day School Cleaner include:

  • The Day School Cleaner will work to complete cleaning in accordance with a schedule that can be provided on request.
  • The Cleaner will monitor the cleaning materials and paper goods of the school (and Boarding House) and will place an order through the School Receptionist when required.
  • The Cleaner will liaise with cleaning related service providers where necessary, including cleaning products, paper goods, sanitary services and carpet cleaners.
  • Other relevant tasks as determined by the School Principal and/or Director of Corporate Services.

Typical Duties

  • Cleaning, mopping and re-stocking of bathrooms.
  • Empty bins and recycling.
  • Vaccuum and/or sweep floors.
  • Wiping desks.
  • Cleaning, dusting, polishing and general cleaning.
  • Spot clean walls and doors.
  • Wash vinyl floors.
  • Polish class doors.
  • Cleaning staff kitchen areas.
  • Removal of Cobwebs.
  • Cleaning of windows and blinds.

  • Ensure professional confidentially is maintained on all occasions
  • Experience in commercial or industrial cleaning.
  • Experience in maintaining appropriate standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to work independently and to recognise when matters require referral to the Director or Corporate Services.
  • Sound knowledge of WHS procedures and requirements.
  • Physically fit (The position will involve lifting and climbing stairs).
  • Ability to plan work and establish appropriate priorities.
  • Salary will be in accordance with the Multi-Enterprise Agreement and dependent on qualifications and experience.
  • Hours of work will support higher levels of demand 5 days per week during School Terms and reduced hours of work during school holidays that would then be supplemented by by deeper level cleaning activities (Eg. Steam cleaning carpets, window cleaning, blind
  • cleaning, etc).
  • During school term normal hours of work for cleaning activities will be outside classroom teaching times of 08:30am – 3:35pm
  • Security – the cleaner ensures all lights, heaters, fans, air-conditioners are off and doors are secured at the end of the working day.
