Principal’s Welcome

//Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Snowy Mountains Grammar School!

Located in the pristine Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales, our school offers extensive and unique opportunities for Day (K-12) and Boarding (7-12) students in a wide range of activities and interests, while immersed in a rigorous academic program and experiencing the personalised care of a smaller school.

We are proud that every student is authentically known at SMGS. Our programs enable students to develop important life skills, such as aspiring for excellence, developing resilience, interacting with peers of differing ages, balancing academic demands with a range of co-curricular interests and, for some, living independently on campus in a supportive environment.

As committed educators, we are morally compelled to provide our students with an exceptional experience, as well as equip each student with the fundamental skills to thrive in a modern world. Our globalised world has shifted considerably in the 21st century. New knowledge economies require advanced analytical thinking and skills, an ability to identify and solve complex problems in a range of different contexts, and to engage and collaborate with others to produce outstanding results. We have developed our own electives program, which provides opportunities for students to engage in a variety of elective learning programs, catering to individual interests beyond the NESA curriculum and developing the skills for a modern world.

At SMGS, schooling commences with the comprehensive Let’s Explore program for students entering Kindergarten, and schooling concludes by celebrating our Year 12 graduates, who do exceptionally well as they venture off to new and exciting challenges, enriching our school community, and themselves, in turn, enriched as part of it. Naturally, we are also delighted to welcome all interested students and parents along this journey.

We invite you to explore the pages within this website and to contact us to gain an even better sense of who we are and whether we would ‘fit’ your vision of what you are searching for in a school.
