Inspiring Creativity & Change

Scott Frize, Head of Art & Design

“I have had the privilege of being part of the SMGS community as a teacher for the past 19 years. During this time, I have been involved in several different facets of education and completely love my role as Head of Art and Design. The joy of working at Snowy Mountains Grammar School is the dynamic nature of us, as an educational institution. We are resolute in reimagining how we do things and with that comes scope and freedom to change.

We are encouraged to challenge the status quo and as a team, develop new and exciting ways to provide our students with an education that is relevant. The currency of the future is ideas and as a teacher of Design, I relish in the practice of working with our students to develop their capacity to be leaders in this space.”

Nurturing Curiosity, Building Confidence

Christine Philpott, Year 5 Teacher, Curriculum Coordinator

“What I appreciate about Snowy Mountains Grammar School is that it values student wellbeing, ensuring that every child is nurtured in a positive and encouraging environment. As a small school in a regional area, collaboration and support among staff are also at the heart of our community. Whether it’s sharing our wellbeing strategies to enhance student engagement or exchanging resources to strengthen our teaching practices, our team thrives on collegiality.

One of the most unique aspects of working at SMGS is its location, overlooking Lake Jindabyne, close to the Alpine ecosystems of Kosciuszko National Park. Our school fosters a strong connection to our natural environment, encouraging both staff and students to engage in a variety of learning, sporting and co-curricular opportunities beyond the classroom. Our SMGS students develop resilience, confidence and a deep appreciation for the world around them through these opportunities and become well-rounded young people.”
