About the P&F
Schools thrive on strong community connections and the Snowy Mountains Grammar School Parents & Friends Association plays an important role in building them.
Led by a small but committed group of parents, the P&F brings families, staff and students together while raising funds for projects that enrich student life.
Through welcoming events, community activities and fundraising initiatives, the P&F helps ensure that SMGS continues to feel connected and welcoming as our School community grows.
Every parent and carer is part of the P&F community and everyone is welcome to become involved.
Supporting Our Students
As a not-for-profit independent school, funds raised by the P&F are directed back into projects and initiatives that enrich student life at Snowy Mountains Grammar School.
Recent contributions have supported fitness equipment for the School gymnasium, hiking and outdoor education equipment and upgrades to the sound and lighting facilities in the Snowy Shed.
The P&F is currently raising funds to landscape the area adjacent to the Snowy Shed, creating additional Eat Street-style seating for students, together with further outdoor improvements across the Junior and Senior Schools.
Every fundraiser, donation and volunteer contribution helps provide broader experiences and better resources for SMGS students.
Bringing Our Community Together
Fundraising is only one part of the P&F’s role. Just as importantly, it creates opportunities for parents, carers, students and staff to connect beyond the classroom.
As P&F President Christie Glasson explains, “Fundraising doesn’t have to feel like hard work. If we can create opportunities people enjoy and that raise funds for the School, that’s a good outcome.”
This philosophy shapes the P&F’s approach to building community while supporting meaningful projects across the School.
Throughout the year, the P&F supports a range of events including welcome BBQs for new families and returning boarders, community evenings, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls, school carnival BBQs, the SMIEC equestrian event and the annual Gingerbread House Making Evening.
These events help new families feel welcome, strengthen friendships and preserve the close sense of community that has long been central to life at SMGS.

The Parents & Friends Association is a small yet impactful committee of dedicated parents working behind the scenes for the benefit of our students and School community.
We take great pride in the meaningful contributions we make, from creating opportunities for families to connect to supporting projects that enhance student life. These contributions are only possible because of the time, energy and generosity of our committee members, volunteers, families and local business community.
You do not need to attend every meeting or make an ongoing commitment to become involved. Many parents help with one activity, volunteer at a stall or contribute to a particular event. Every contribution is valued, and we would love to welcome you.

Over many years, SMGS families have worked together to support meaningful projects, student resources and community initiatives.
Recent P&F Contributions:
Outdoor Spaces and Landscaping
The P&F is currently raising funds to landscape the area adjacent to the Snowy Shed, creating additional Eat Street-style seating where students can gather, relax and connect. Further outdoor projects are also being considered across the Junior and Senior Schools.
Snowy Shed Sound and Lighting
A significant P&F contribution supported the installation of new sound and lighting equipment in the Snowy Shed, improving the space for performances, presentations, community events and student activities.
Gymnasium Equipment
The P&F contributed equipment for the School’s new gymnasium, supporting the development of an important facility for students.
Student Recognition
The Association provides annual support for Speech Day prizes, helping recognise student achievement, effort and contribution.
Community and Staff Support
P&F contributions have also supported staff appreciation initiatives, community events, school celebrations and hospitality for major occasions, including the School’s 30th anniversary.
Hiking and outdoor education equipment
Outdoor Education is one of the school’s most popular electives for students in Year 9 and 10.
Community Calendar
Parents and carers are welcome to attend P&F meetings and participate in events throughout the year.
Meetings are generally held at 6:00 pm on the second Tuesday of each month during Terms 1, 2 and 4, with some adjustments around the School calendar.

What to Expect
2026 Winter Olympics Trivia Night
The 2026 Winter Olympics Trivia Night brought together parents, staff, past Olympians and members of the wider community for a sell-out evening of trivia, entertainment and fundraising.
Supported by generous local businesses, auction donors, volunteers and attendees, the event achieved the strongest fundraising result of any SMGS P&F Trivia Night to date.
Funds raised are contributing to landscaping and improved outdoor spaces for students.
Amount raised: $26,000
2025 Holiday of a Lifetime Raffle
To celebrate the School’s 30th anniversary, the P&F partnered with Flight Centre to offer a $30,000 Holiday of a Lifetime prize.
The major raffle raised approximately $16,000 towards improved outdoor recreation areas, including landscaping adjacent to the Snowy Shed.
The campaign was made possible through the support of the P&F committee, families and the wider community.
Car Raffle
The P&F Car Raffle was one of the Association’s major fundraising campaigns and demonstrated what can be achieved when families, sponsors and the broader community work together.
Funds raised contributed to significant School projects and resources that continue to benefit SMGS students
Buy a Paver Fundraiser
The P&F will soon launch a Buy a Paver campaign, with all proceeds contributing to improved landscaping and outdoor spaces across the School.
Families will have an opportunity to support the project while becoming part of a lasting feature within the SMGS grounds.
