Snowy Mountains Grammar School, founded in 1996, is home to original maintenance buildings of the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme, a hydroelectric project which operated from 1949 to 1974. The Scheme was one of the world’s most complex engineering projects and one of Australia’s largest engineering marvels that shaped the nation’s energy landscape.

The Main Administration building was the Headquarters of the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme and original stonework has been preserved. ‘The Snowy Shed’, now a space for many of our community events and classes, houses the large yellow crane used to construct the Scheme as well as historical information.

By keeping heritage alive in our industrial-edge spaces, the legacy of the thousands of dedicated workers who transformed our local area, inspire our students and staff to stay determined, work together and innovate.

Spaces to Grow

Technology, Heritage and Stunning Landscapes – a Perfect Blend

Our Junior School students learn in vibrant, well-appointed classrooms with plenty of lush, grassed spaces and play areas to boost their physical literacy and sense of agency and nurture their connection to nature. They love heading out to our ‘Eat Street’ area, a colourful space to learn, eat and socialise with peers.

Our Boarding House is at the heart of our campus and provides modern rooms and welcoming communal areas where students can grow in their independence so that they are future-ready.

Our spaces go beyond the school gates. Our horse agistment facilities are located nearby and strong local partnerships enable us to offer equestrian activities at the local pony club, aviation at the airfield and snowsports at the ski resorts. Our students can easily access Jindabyne Lake and local trails for sport and curriculum experiences.

We continue to embrace our innovative history and transform our campus year on year, ensuring we provide the most exceptional student learning experience.
