STEM in Action
A flagship initiative, the STEM in Action program for Kindergarten to Year 6 students, engages our students in hands-on and inquiry projects, allowing them to showcase the real-world applications of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. From designing simple machines to studying ecosystems, the projects make the abstract, tangible. This program not only introduces students to STEM fields; it sparks curiosity, builds inquiry skills, encourages critical problem-solving and fosters resilience from an early age.
Robotics
Spanning Years 4 to 8, our innovative Robotics Program gives our students the chance to access dynamic platforms and build, program and refine creations, nurturing their technical and problem-solving skills. The Robotics Lab, open at lunchtimes, is a collaborative environment fostering teamwork skills. Our students showcase their robotics skills at competitions, including at State and National levels.
Middle Years Innovation & Technology Skills
Alongside academic subjects, our Middle Years students develop versatile, future-focused skill sets. Our Year 7 students dive into app development, planning, designing and building real prototypes that our students proudly share with the community. By Year 8, students are introduced to coding, strengthening both their computer and analytical abilities. In Year 9, our students engage in video editing, mastering industry-standard software while also developing the organisation and teamwork skills that are key to creative projects.
Curiosity Centre
Our Curiosity Centre is the hub of innovation and technology, a dynamic space where science, technology, art, engineering and maths seamlessly blend. With industry-level technology such as laser cutters and 3D printers, our students transform their creativity into reality. Our Robotics Lab within the Centre is constantly buzzing with excitement as our students experiment, test designs and collaborate on projects.
Aviation Academy
A standout offering is Snowy Mountain Grammar School’s Aviation Academy. Students can experience the feel of flying a Cessna in our state-of-the-art flight simulator and can even achieve their own Recreational Pilot’s Licence (RPL) to fly real aircraft, equipping them for a future in aviation.
For those students interested in emerging aviation technology, a Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) for drone operation is offered. Equipping students with skills for commercial and recreational drone piloting, this certification opens doors to careers in photography, surveying and search and rescue.
