Sport is essential to the holistic experience offered at our School. We want students to enjoy being active while boosting their self-confidence, teamwork and skills. We want to help our young people prioritise lifelong wellbeing.
Our Kindergarten to Year 12 Sport Program has a clear set of goals:

Our Sport Program embraces inclusivity, encourages students to push their boundaries and fosters a passion for sport.
Unique, comprehensive and dynamic, our Sport Program offers over twenty-five sports. These include team and individual sports from social to elite levels. With a variety of sports offered each term, students can explore and participate in multiple disciplines throughout the year.
Snowy Mountains Grammar School is a member of formal sporting associations including: Heads of Independent Co-educational Schools (HICES – Junior School) and Independent Sporting Association (ISA – Senior School). Our School is also actively involved in various local club competitions throughout the year.
We have a strong track record of nurturing and producing state, national and international athletes, including several Olympians. We carefully support our elite level athletes to balance training and competition schedules as well as their academic learning.
With spectacular views of Lake Jindabyne and the Snowy Mountains, our Sports Precinct includes two high-quality versatile courts, cricket net and two ovals. Our fully-equipped, commercial-grade gymnasium also supports our students to stay fit and healthy.

Wednesday Sport Program (Years 5 to 11)
All students from Years 5 to 11 are required to participate in the Wednesday Sport Program, scheduled during Periods 5 and 6 in Terms 1, 2 and 4.
In Term 3, the Wednesday Snowsports Program runs all day for all students in Kindergarten to Year 11.
Through our Wednesday Sport Program, students are offered a wide range of Sport opportunities which typically include:

Sport Academies
Our Equestrian, Mountain Biking and Snowsports Academies offer students the chance to pursue their passions with purpose and support. These established programs are known for their strong legacy of achievement and personal growth.
Each Academy welcomes students across year levels and experience—from beginners to elite athletes representing Australia. Guided by experienced and trusted professionals, students build skill, strength and self-belief through structured development programs.
Students are also encouraged to take part in competitions throughout the year, deepening their resilience, commitment and love of sport.

Gymnasium
Our well-equipped commercial-style gymnasium keeps our Years 7 to 12 students active and energised. Cardio machines, Pin-weighted Cable machines, Free Weights and additional equipment are all available for use. The gym is used within Physical Education classes, our Fitness/ Strength & Conditioning Wednesday Sport Elective, within our Sport Academy programs and is also available for individual use by Senior students.
Representative Sport
From Snowy Mountain Grammar School’s Athletics Carnival, Swimming Carnival and Cross Country Carnival, Kindergarten to Year 6 and Years 7 to 12 students have the opportunity to represent the School at Regional, State and National level events run through Heads of Independent Co-educational Schools (HICES) and Independent Sporting Association (ISA) respectively.
In addition, students participating in Equestrian, Mountain Bike and Snowsports can represent in the Interschools Competitions, including Snowy Mountains Grammar School’s own Gymkhana event for Equestrian students.
Local Sports Competitions
Strong connections with our local community are important to our School. Through close partnerships with local sport organisations, our students get the chance to participate in a variety of seasonal team sports competitions on weeknights while enjoying Jindabyne’s beautiful surroundings.
