Snowy Mountains Grammar School offers a limited number of scholarships and bursaries each year for students entering Years 7 to 11, recognising excellence and supporting students who will make a meaningful contribution to the life of the school or who may not otherwise be able to join our learning community.

2026 Year 7 Boarding Scholarship
There are a limited number of Year 7 boarding scholarships available for 2026 entry to celebrate the opening of our new boarding house.
Set in the heart of the Snowy Mountains, we offer an inspiring residential learning experience enriched by our Snowsports, Mountain Bike, Aviation and Equestrian Academies.
This scholarship supports students who demonstrate academic effort, leadership potential and a strong sense of community, reflecting the SMGS values of Courage, Authenticity, Respect and Empathy.

Scholarship Opportunities
Academic Excellence Scholarship (2027 Entry)
Who can apply: Students entering Years 7 – 11 in 2027.
What it includes: 10% – 50% tuition fee remission based on performance in the ACER Scholarship Test and academic records.
What it excludes: Textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees and individual subject fees or boarding fees.
External testing: ACER Scholarship Test (required). Students must register via ACER and sit the test on Saturday 28 February 2026. Registrations for the ACER Scholarship Test close on Sunday 8 February 2026. Register for the ACER Scholarship test here: https://www.acer.org/au/scholarship
Submit: NAPLAN and ICAS results (if taken), two latest school reports, supporting academic evidence and a student cover letter (max 2 pages).

General Excellence Merit Scholarship (2027 Entry)
Who can apply: Students entering Years 7 – 11 in 2027 who demonstrate excellence in academics, leadership, sport, or co-curricular pursuits.
What it includes: 10% – 40% tuition fee remission based on meritorious achievement.
What it excludes: Textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees and individual subject fees or boarding fees.
External testing: Not required.
Submit: Performance summary and evidence, NAPLAN/ICAS results, two latest reports and a student cover letter (max 2 pages).
Status: Now Open. Closes on 31 March 2026.

Music & Arts Excellence Scholarship (2027 Entry)
Who can apply: Students entering Years 7 – 11 in 2027 who excel in music, visual arts or performing arts.
What it includes: 10% – 40% tuition fee remission based on level of achievement and commitment.
What it excludes: Textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees and individual subject fees or boarding fees.
External testing: Not required.
Submit: Digital portfolio or two performance links, NAPLAN/ICAS results, two latest reports and a student cover letter (max 2 pages).

Snowy Monaro Community Excellence Scholarship (2027 Entry)
Who can apply: Students entering Years 7 – 10 in 2027 who show outstanding achievement and commitment to their community.
What it includes: Up to 90% tuition fee remission.
What it excludes: Textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees and individual subject fees or boarding fees.
External testing: Not required.
Submit: Performance summary and evidence of community involvement, NAPLAN/ICAS results, two latest reports and a student cover letter (max 3 pages).

Snowy Monaro Community Citizenship Scholarship (2027 Entry)
Who can apply: Students entering Years 7 – 10 in 2027 who demonstrate leadership, citizenship and service in their school or community.
What it includes: Up to 90% tuition fee remission.
What it excludes: Textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees and individual subject fees or boarding fees.
External testing: Not required.
Submit: List of community involvement, NAPLAN/ICAS results, two latest reports and a student cover letter (max 3 pages).

Excellence or Innovation in Science & Technology Scholarship (2027 Entry)
Who can apply: Students entering Year 11 in 2027 with a strong interest in Science, Medicine or Technology.
What it includes: 15%, 25% or 50% tuition fee remission based on academic performance and innovation.
What it excludes: Textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees and individual subject fees or boarding fees.
External testing: Not required.
Submit: Evidence of Science/Technology involvement, NAPLAN/ICAS results, two latest reports and a student cover letter (max 2 pages).

Means-Tested Bursaries
Boarding Bursary (2027 Entry)
Who can apply: Boarding students entering Years 7 – 11 in 2027 whose families require financial assistance to access boarding.
What it includes: Up to 50% boarding fee remission.
What it excludes: Tuition fees, textbooks, uniforms, excursions, technology fees and individual subject fees.
External testing: Not required.
