State Champions: An Extraordinary Week for Snowy Mountains Grammar School Snowsports

Snowy Mountains Grammar School has capped off an extraordinary State Interschools Snowsports Championships, being crowned Overall Co-Ed State Champions in both the Primary and Secondary Championships.

It was an outstanding achievement across our whole Snowsports team and a result that reflects not only some exceptional performances, but the depth, commitment and team spirit of our students across the School.

From our youngest Primary competitors through to our senior athletes, students represented Snowy Mountains Grammar School across Alpine, Ski Cross, Moguls, Snowboard Giant Slalom, Snowboard Cross, Cross Country and Slopestyle events throughout the Championships.

Despite challenging weather, event cancellations and unpredictable conditions across the week, our students remained positive, resilient and determined. They adapted when schedules changed, embraced every opportunity to compete and continued to support one another.

Primary Overall Co-Ed State Champions
Our Junior School Snowsports Team delivered an outstanding collective performance to secure the Primary Overall Co-Ed State Championship.

Our youngest competitors embraced the opportunity to compete on the State stage, demonstrating determination, enthusiasm and wonderful team spirit throughout the Championships.

While there were some exceptional individual and team performances, the overall title was a whole-team achievement. Every student who competed had a part to play, with results across the team contributing valuable championship points.

For many of our younger athletes, the week also provided invaluable experience competing alongside some of the strongest school-aged snowsports athletes in the State.

Secondary Overall Co-Ed State Champions
Our Middle and Senior School athletes completed an extraordinary double for the School, securing the Secondary Overall Co-Ed State Championship.

The week produced some exceptional individual and team results across multiple disciplines, highlighting the talent, commitment and hard work our students have put into their training and competition throughout the season.

It was particularly rewarding to see students who don’t always find themselves on the podium step up and achieve fantastic results at State level, alongside outstanding performances from many of our experienced competitors.

Together, those performances added up to something much bigger: an Overall State Championship.

Every Result Counts
One of the great strengths of an overall championship is that it recognises the contribution of the entire team.

A gold medal may attract the attention, but championship points are accumulated through performances across events, divisions and disciplines. Every student who competed contributed to the overall success of the team, whether through a podium finish, valuable championship points, a personal best, supporting a teammate or simply giving their best in challenging conditions.

The result was two Overall Co-Ed State Championship titles and a wonderful demonstration of the strength and depth of Snowsports across Snowy Mountains Grammar School.

More Than the Medals
While the medals and championship titles are certainly worth celebrating, the week represented much more.

It was the teammate waiting at the finish line. The encouragement at the start gate. Students adapting when an event was changed or cancelled. Younger competitors having a go on the State stage and experienced athletes continuing to challenge themselves.

Those moments reflect the culture, resilience and team spirit that underpin Snowsports at Snowy Mountains Grammar School.

Our sincere congratulations go to every student who represented the School throughout the Championships, along with our team managers, coaches and staff who supported them across the week.

We also extend our thanks to our families and wider Snowsports community whose support makes weeks like this possible.

To finish the Championships as Overall Co-Ed State Champions in both Primary and Secondary competition is an exceptional achievement and one our entire School community can be incredibly proud of.
